Primary version progress

The development of the primary version is progressing according to plan. Our developers are implementing the functionality one part at a time and the work is progressing steadily. In the early development phase we have prioritised building a course structure with a simple editor and SCORM support. We have planned two releases: one introduction release with the most important features, and a full release with additional features. The current time schedule is as follows:

MayTeacher training
June/JulyLimited beta test
August/SeptemberIntroduction release
End of 2008Version 1.0

Introduction release

The list below shows some of the things that are developed so far, and that will be included in the introduction release. It is now possible to:

  • add primary courses
  • add content to primary courses (links, assignments and import SCORM packages)
  • view content with the new primary layout
  • change a regular course in it’s learning to a primary course and the other way around
  • create an early learner profile

The primary version as it will look in the introduction version.

After the introduction release we start working with version 1.0. The release is scheduled for late 2008. In the table below you can see the features of the introduction release and version 1.0:

What can teachers do to prepare themselves for the primary version?

We advise teachers to start creating primary courses so that they are ready until the release. Simply add a course in the existing it’s learning and limit the use of learning tools to SCORM content, links and assignments. When the primary version is available these courses can be converted to primary courses. Content in the courses that is not supported by the primary version is not shown. This means that content you already have can be reused as it is in a primary course.

Software update 17 April 2008

it's learning was updated with a new patch 17 April 2008. We have identified and fixed two potential performance issues. The patch did not contain any features that are noticeable by a normal user.

Software update 13 April 2008

We have updated it's learning with a new patch. The following is new in patch 3.3.0.1002 (13 April 2008):

DirectEdit
As a result of the update to it’s learning 3.3 DirectEdit (the tool that allows you to edit files) was not able to set the edited document as the current version. This bug has now been fixed.

Surveys
When surveys were published externally, some of our user experienced that the questions did not appear when the respondent clicked the survey. This bug has now been fixed.

Messages
Some users have reported problems when sending messages to a user in a group where the username contained the characters æ, ø and å. This bug has now been fixed.

Security
In addition to the above bug fixes we have identified and closed some security issues.

What's new in it's learning 3.3?

We are happy to announce that a new version of it’s learning has been released. We have made a web page that describes the new features. It opens in English by default, but you can click the language tabs to select your preferred language:
The new features can be summarised as follows:
  • New test tool (beta version)
  • Sound and video recorders
  • Course administration
  • Bug fixes
We have also made two videos on two of the new features:

The new test tool (05:08 min, 12,5 MB)
Sound and video recorder (03:26 min, 4,26 MB)
